Convert larger units to smaller ones, and vice-versa. Convert between hours, minutes, and seconds. Convert between grams and kilograms. Convert between liters and milliliters. Convert between meters and centimeters. Convert between feet and inches. Convert between dollars and cents. For example, 24 inches = 2 feet. Students should learn how to solve, and practice solving, both word problems and mathematical ones. Some problems should require not only unit conversion, but applying one or more arithmetic operations as well. Conclude by giving your students this challenge. Let them use a calculator for the tedious multiplications and divisions. This topic builds upon this one.
