Students will learn how to multiply fractions. Students will solve word problems, geometry problems, and mathematical problems. Students will also learn the strategy of reducing fractions before multiplying. For example, \((9/15) \cdot (4/8)\) can be reduced to \((3/5) \cdot (1/2),\) which is much easier to solve. Here's a good video covering that strategy. As an example geometry problem, students could find the area of a rectangle with fractional side lengths. Next, have your students try this challenge. Finally, have them try parts i and ii of this challenge.
