Students will learn the area formula for triangles, and certain convex quadrilaterals. After that, students will learn how to find the area of composite figures, by breaking such figures into triangles and convex quadrilaterals. Students will see problems where one figure is combined with another, as well as problems where one figure has been removed from another. They'll learn how to solve both real-world and mathematical problems. Practice for mathematical problems can be found here and here.
