Students will learn the definition of a circle. Namely, that a circle is a set of points equidistant from its center. Students will also learn how to identify various parts of circles, including center, radius, diameter, and circumference (video). After students know what the diameter and circumference are, students are ready to learn what \(\pi\) is, namely, circumference over diameter.
