Student will learn what the Pythagorean theorem is and see several proofs of it. Students will also learn how to use the theorem to solve word problems and mathematical ones. Sometimes they will be asked to find exact answers, and other times they will be asked to use a calculator and round. Here's an example of the latter:

A right triangle has two side lengths of 7cm. Use a calculator to find the hypotenuse, rounded to 1 decimal place.
