Understand unit fractions, such as 1/*b*, as the quantity formed by 1 part when a whole is partitioned into *b* parts. Understand *a*/*b* as *a* parts, each of size 1/*b*.

Partition shapes into parts with equal areas. Express the area of each part as a unit fraction of the whole. *For example, partition a shape into 4 parts with equal area, and describe the area of each part as 1/4 of the area of the shape.*

Identify which shapes are cut into equal parts. In a previous lesson we saw circles and rectangles cut into equal parts. Now we see regular polygons too. Given a shaded picture, identify the amount shaded as a fraction. Given a fraction, identify which picture represents it. Conclude by giving this challenge, then this one. That last problem mentions regular hexagons, but it's not essential to the problem. You could say, instead, that every tile is the same.
